SHELTER-IN-PLACE DRILL
THIS IS ONLY A TEST
The event information below is fictional. It is being used as part of a residential Shelter-in-Place Drill on Penn's Campus. This is only a Drill.
In the event of a true emergency, this website would have been used as you see below to keep the University community and general public aware of the situation as it unfolded.
Drill Scenario:
At 1:15 the Division of Public Safety received a call for a fire on the CSX rail line. The fire has engulfed a boxcar containing highly toxic chlorine. At 1:55 the integrity of the box car became compromised and a visible greenish cloud (chlorine gas) was seen leaking out and moving westward at ground level. At this time the Philadelphia Fire Department issued a shelter-in-place order in a ten-block radius around the event.
2:00 PM: Shelter-In-Place notification sent to University:
2:02 PM: The Division of Public Safety and Philadelphia Emergency Personnel are currently on scene attempting to contain the fire and release of gas. Stay away from area.
2:04 PM: Continue to stay inside. Chlorine is highly toxic and currently saturating the air around the University of Pennsylvania Campus.
2:08 PM: Penn Public Safety & Philadelphia Emergency Personnel have brought the situation under control. Please continue to wait for all clear. Remain inside.
2:10 PM: The Shelter-In-Place Drill is over. Thank you for your participation. Please resume all normal activity.
